Newsletter November 2023: At Prospera, no crisis is more important than others

As 2023 hastily unfolds, political and environmental crises continue to unfold in many corners of the world.

At Prospera, no crisis is more important than others.

From the armed conflicts in Palestine, Ukraine, Sudan, and Nagorno-Karabakh, the lives and integrity of women, girls, and trans, intersex, and non-binary people are every day more endangered.

It is within our mission as a global political network that resources reach the hands of women’s and feminist movements mostly in the Global South and East, to respond to the needs of activists, groups, and organizations regardless of their context, geography, or circumstances to build a world towards sustainable peace.

Thus, we have issued a global Call To Action to philanthropy urging immediate financial and non-financial support to women’s funds mobilizing resources to feminist movements, women, girls, trans, non-binary, and intersex communities in Palestine, Israel, Sudan, Armenia, and Ukraine.

Read our Call to action to support MENASudan and the call to action of Women’s Fund Armenia for Nagorno- Karabakh.

As political crises continue to unfold, the climate crisis reaches a critical point, and the lack of political responses is already impacting countless human and non-human lives. The climate crisis is expected to worsen in the coming years. The philanthropic community must come together and collectively develop effective solutions.

We are thrilled to announce that, following the Bali Summit organized by Prospera and Global Green Funds in 2003, we will host our next Environmental and Gender Summit from September 26th – 30th, 2024, in Zanzibar, Tanzania. SAVE THE DATE!

Following the Summit, we are also excited to invite you to Prospera’s XIII Biennial, which will take place in the first days of October 2024. At our Biennial, we will continue to convene funders, allies, women’s and feminist funds, and activists to collectively strategize effective solutions for the ongoing political crises and to support better women, girls, trans, non-binary, and intersex activists who are at the forefront of social, environmental and gender justice worldwide.

As we wind up the year, we are proud of our collective work strengthening resilience, influencing, and speaking up for justice, human rights, and peace. With the public launch of our strategic framework for the next decade, we are collectively ready to show up together in our pursuit of resourcing feminist and women’s movements around the world. We hope you will join us!

We must come together to continue enabling transformation!
