Dalan Fund distributes resources to intersectional movements, registered organizations, unregistered collectives, and networks led by historically and currently excluded communities. We prioritize organizing primarily led by, working for, and with women, trans* and gender non-conforming people.

We are determined to provide intersectional activists with consistent spaces for building trust and solidarity, exchanging diverse strategies and tactics, finding repose, and solidifying connections.

Dalan Fund is an invitation and opportunity for funding institutions responding to the full scale invasion of Ukraine and others  to remain engaged in the region and place trust in the leadership, guidance, and visions of multi-regional intersectional movements.

Budapest, Hungary

Working towards a future where gender equality, social, and environmental justice are realized in Hungary. Our goal is for the rights of every woman living in Hungary to be upheld so they can live in peace and security. We aim for them to have equal access to power and resources, and for their opinions and decisions to be respected.

California, USA

Since its inception in 1999, the Fund has provided unrestricted funding to organizations on the ground in Croatia, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Montenegro. We’ve learned over and over that activists often start projects on their own when they see unmet needs. One of Heart & Hand’s guiding principles is recognizing the wisdom of local activists to determine what funding is needed within the limits of our budget. We would like to add new grants to new and emerging projects without neglecting our long-time partners.
