Astraea was founded in New York City in the United States in 1977 and works at the local, national and global levels. Astraea established its International Fund in 1996, the first institutional fund in the U.S. devoted to supporting LGBTI organizations worldwide. Since its inception, Astraea has invested in innovative LGBTI-led human rights and social change organizations and projects in more than 90 countries across Africa, the Americas, Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East, making over 4,300 grants to more than 1,700 groups and individuals.

filia began as an idea of 9 women in 2001. These women built up an issue based community foundation model with special rules, and founded filia in Hamburg, Germany in 2001. The filia foundation works internationally.

AYNI -the Indigenous Women’s Fund- was launched in 2008 and works globally, with an administrative office located in Lima, Peru. AYNI is a Kichua/Quechua word that synthesizes reciprocity, solidarity, equity, and collaboration both between humans and other beings of the cosmos (animals, plants, stars, ancestors, etc.). 

AYNI is the economic and philanthropic arm of the International Indigenous Women’s Forum -FIMI- that promotes accountability and provides opportunities to promote social justice. AYNI serves as a facilitator instrument of resources (material, human, and financial) for indigenous women. The Fund accompanies the processes defined by the organizations themselves and articulates them with the global movement of indigenous women.

Founded in 1983, Mama Cash is the first international women’s fund and supports the work of women, girls, and trans and intersex people, as they are best placed to challenge the injustice and discrimination that affect them. Courageous women’s, girls’, and trans and intersex people’s human rights organisations worldwide need funding and supportive networks in order to grow and transform their communities. Mama Cash mobilises resources from individuals and institutions, makes grants to these self-led, feminist organisations, and helps to build the partnerships and networks needed to successfully defend and advance women’s, girls’, and trans and intersex people’s human rights globally.

The Equality Fund brings together partners with a feminist agenda to build an innovative solution to fund the fight for gender equality around the world. The Equality Fund provides direct financial support to grassroots women’s rights organizations that are Holding Ground and Breaking Ground in the global South. The Equality Fund supports innovative women to dismantle barriers, challenge perceptions, and change the world for women and girls.

Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism provides fast, flexible funding to women, trans and non-binary activists who take and face enormous risks to challenge oppressive systems and build a more just and equitable world. Our holistic resources enable frontline feminist movements to respond to real-time threats and opportunities, protect and care for themselves and one another, and sustain and propel solutions to the most critical crises and injustices of our time.
