The events that shaped 2024 startled the social justice and funding ecosystems. Today\u2019s realities demand that we reassess our strategies and responses to continue supporting women\u2019s, girl\u2019s and LBTQI+ movements in all of their diversity.<\/strong> To safeguard the financial security, integrity, and well-being of these movements, we must once again adapt to a dire and challenging context.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

As a Global South and East network, we have navigated turbulent waters for years, and we are confident that, once again, we will not just endure but thrive. Prospera will remain sharp, seize new opportunities, and continue bringing and mobilizing resources. To adapt to the current context, we continue to convene collective spaces for intelligence sharing, reflection, and strategizing<\/strong>\u2014ensuring our members remain connected and resilient amidst a rapidly shifting global political and funding landscape.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

As part of these efforts, we launched a learning series on investment strategies designed to demystify the investment landscape and promote equitable access to financial and investment knowledge. These series facilitated the exchange of tools, strategies, and insights among members, contributing to enhanced financial resilience and more effective resource mobilization across the network.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

As part of our collective efforts and external engagement with strategic partners, we co-organized <\/strong>Moving Money, Building Movements<\/strong> <\/span><\/i>along with AWID, Gender Funders Co-Lab, Count Me In!, and The Alliance for Feminist Movements. The funders’ event was held just before the AWID Forum in Bangkok in late 2024\u2014a catalytic space for activists to connect, strategize, and collaborate with bilateral donors, individual wealth stewards, and private, family, and corporate foundations. This convening helped lay the groundwork for stronger and more effective resource mobilization.<\/span><\/p>

Last year, we supported the creation of the <\/span>First Response Fund<\/span><\/i>. Prospera played a key role in developing this pooled fund mechanism by leveraging its ecosystem to establish an effective channel for directing humanitarian funding to women\u2019s and feminist organizations.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In 2024, Prospera and our partners invested deeply in visioning and planning the Climate and Gender Justice Summit and our XIII Biennial in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.<\/strong> These spaces were designed to galvanize collective action at the intersection of climate, gender, and social justice, as well as to center the unique role of Women\u2019s and Feminist Funds.<\/span><\/p>

While unforeseen circumstances led to the cancellation of the in-person gathering, the process itself showcased the strength, care, and agility of our team and community. Our collective response centered care and integrity, prioritizing the wellbeing and safety of participants. It also laid the groundwork for lasting improvements in our policies and processes, with stronger transparency and accountability. Importantly, several key outcomes were still achieved, including the publication of <\/span>Seeds for Harvest: Funding for Gender, Climate, and Environmental Justice<\/span><\/i><\/a>, developed in partnership with GGF, HRFN, and GAGGA, which maps critical funding gaps at this vital intersection.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Another milestone in 2024 was the successful completion of our leadership transition.<\/strong> After a careful and transparent recruitment process led by our Board, Prospera welcomed Laila Alodaat as our new Executive Director in November. This transition reflects the governance progress made since the launch of <\/span>Noor<\/span><\/i>, our 10-year strategic vision.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
