Dear Supporters and Friends,
We find ourselves in a moment of great urgency and need, as we witness the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh. On September 19, Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched a wide-scale attack against Nagorno-Karabakh, also targeting civilian objects. This two-day-assault resulted in at least 200 casualties, 400 wounded (among civilian population – 10 casualties, 5 of them children, and the number of wounded exceeds 40, 13 of them are children) and thousands of displaced people.
This was preceded by a nine-month-blockade of the Lachin corridor, a humanitarian corridor which connects Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia and the outside world, leaving the ethnic Armenian population in isolation, without essential food, medical supplies, hygiene products, fuel, electricity, gas, and other basic necessities.
Our hearts are heavy as we see the devastation caused by these events. The people of Nagorno-Karabakh, particularly women, girls, and people with disabilities are facing unimaginable challenges and hardships. Families have been torn apart, homes destroyed, and lives shattered. The flow of people from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia has already started (93.000 forcibly displaced people as of September 29, 4p.m.). The already vulnerable population of this region is now in dire need of our help. Not to mention that the organizations and the population in the border regions that are going to receive displaced people are also vulnerable and need our support.
